CARBON REDUCTION

Achieving net zero-carbon requires a focus on both Embodied Energy (carbon emitted during the construction of a building, including those associated with a buildings’ products) and Operational Energy (carbon emitted through the operational use of a building), where aspects such as compact building form, retaining any existing structures, undertaking materiality options appraisals, and setting targets play a significant role in the sustainability outcome. Targeting both embodied and operational energy represents the greatest level of commitment to achieving net zero-carbon.
