OUR year in review
Well, 2022 has certainly been an eventful year hasn’t it? However, we have worked and continue to work with some of the most resilient clients, collaborators, and now friends, in the industry. We therefore remain optimistic about the future of the built environment, architecture and our role in regenerating our planet.
Here’s a round-up of some of the work we’ve undertaken together, and we hope to continue to work with you in the new year.
WE ARE on site
We are on site with a number of projects including: Hermitage Mews, designed to meet the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge which is almost weather-tight. As well as Hill House, designed to meet LETI Retrofit Best Practice targets is just getting underway (albeit speedily). We’ll be sure to keep you posted on progress in 2023!
retrofit first
We know the numbers: 80% of homes needed in 2050 are already built. We are now used to the messages: the greenest building already exists.
We have been burrowing away on some exciting projects including completing the retrofit of ‘The Torrington’ in Hertfordshire and getting geeky with energy modelling and LCA reporting so we know how retrofit homes will behave in detail and the amount of carbon emissions may be used in upfront and operations of buildings before they are built!
We’ve also kept busy developing our in-house Retrofit Template as fuel poverty and unseasonably weather conditions push retrofit to the top of the public’s consciousness.
PROJECT WINS
Alongside some stellar small projects, we’ve kept busy with wider masterplans including Waterloo Station Masterplan in London and a catalyst edge of the city project in Dublin, Ireland (more details on this in the new year).
FRAMEWORK SUCCESS
We are thrilled to have successfully made it onto more architecture frameworks this year, and are very much looking forward to working with existing and new clients to make great places.
You can find us on the Notting Hill Genesis Development Framework and the LHC Architect Design Services (ADS1.1) Framework. These are open for many public sector clients to use, so don’t be shy!
NEW APPOINTMENTS
Alongside being named the RIBA Practice of the Month for November, our directors have kept busy between becoming a Mayor’s Design Advocate (Tara Gbolade) and picking up the Offsite Pioneer of the Year Award (Lanre Gbolade). We have also doubled down on our commitment to sustainable development through our industry contributions including Design Review Panels, UKGBC, LETI and Architects Declare.
TEAM NEWS
We’ve welcomed some new team members to bolster our impactful studio: Sara, Senior Architect with experience from large practice, and Nisha, our Studio Manager who keeps us in check!
